When you set up a cold wallet you will be giving something called a mnemonic seed phrase (Private Keys)- usually 12 or 24 random words long.
This is your master key (VERY IMPORTANT)
You Choose How to Store it
Some people write it down (Don’ Type It). Use pen and paper or a metal backup plate and lock it in a safe others etch it into steel to survive fire and water; some split it into parts and store each in different places Safety Deposit Boxes. You can use Multi-Person Storage by breaking a seed phrase (Private Keys) into parts and shared across family members.
The seed phrase (Private Keys) is your vault key. It’s not a password. It’s not stored online. It’s a one-time, human-readable backup that lets you recover you Bitcoin anywhere, anytime, even if your device is lost, broke, stolen, or destroyed. Never store your Mnemonic phrase (Seed Phrase, Private Keys) on your phone, computer, email, cloud servers. Never take a picture. Never share your keys.
For even more security we have multi-signature wallets (Multisig Wallet). A multi-signature (multisig) is a special type or Bitcoin wallet that requires more than one key to approve and send a transaction. Family or Business protection, inheritance planning, or just more security for storing larger amounts. Think of it like a digital safe that needs multiple keys to open.
